HAVE A COFFE, MEET THE DESIGNER #4

The jewelry design courses and the HAVE A COFFE, MEET THE DESIGNER #4 workshop (organized by conf. univ. dr. ALEXANDRU BUNII and coordinated by asist. univ. drd. PETRU ALIN GRANGURE and asist. univ. drd. MARIA MOGA) proposed FAD students to explore innovative techniques and learn how to combine tradition with contemporary trends in jewelry design with the help of international consultant and jewelry designer EVERT deGRAEVE (USA) – visiting lecturer – who shared the experience of creating a unique collection of high end jewelry – The MANHATTAN COLLECTION – for which only the best materials and the highest craftsmanship found in workshops on three continents were used. Mr. deGraeve challenged the students to propose design concepts for new jewelry pieces that align with the aesthetic quality of the MANHATTAN COLLECTION.

Born in Holland EVERT deGRAEVE was educated in Belgium and Holland. He started his carrer in London as a goldsmith for David Morris and continued his experience in Pforzheim Germany. For 20 years EDG fulfilled Executive Global Design and Product Development positions at Harry Winston, Suna Brothers, Mikimoto and David Yurman.
Using the finest materials and the best craftsmenship EDG has create a unique collection of jewelry. The collection captures EDG’s extensive global traveling experiences. EDG’s inspiration starting at his roots in Europe.
The sense of balance and European design influences ad to the appealing aspect of the EDG collection. EVERT deGRAEVE also provides bespoke services. The MANHATTAN COLLECTION is a private commissioned project created by EDG.
